    1.3.2 Factor of Safety (FOS)

    The factor of safety is the ratio between minimum breaking load and SWL (see section 1.3.17 Single Purpose Equipment), sometimes referred to in standards and legislation as the working coefficient, coefficient of utilization or design factor.
