1.3.18 Report of Test
Report of test, previously known as ‘test certificate’ is a report issued by the competent person who did the test and details the specifics of the test. Test reports are not legal documents allowing the equipment to be used, except when used in support of legal documents such as the EC Declaration of Conformity, Manufacturers Certificate or Report of Thorough Inspection/Examination.
For new equipment for the EU or GB markets,, this will be an EC or UK Declaration of Conformity, respectively, For products intended for other markets a manufacturers certificate is advised. Supporting structures that are not within the scope of the EU or GB supply legislation will be issued with a report of test and examination following installation and proof load. Older equipment may will have been supplied with a “test certificate” and such equipment may still be found .in-service. All of these documents are sometimes referred to as the ‘birth certificate’. In some cases the legislation and the standards may require a combination of these documents and the information from each can be merged into a single document.
A test does not just mean load testing it is a phrase that covers other tests such as non-destructive testing.
