12.5.1 Application

Mobile supporting structures may be custom built or made up from standard components. This enables a wide range of designs and features to be manufactured to suit specific applications. This of course also affects the cost and performance. Carefully consider the selection and fully discuss the application with the supplier. (See section 12.6 INFORMATION WHICH SHOULD BE EXCHANGED BETWEEN THE USER AND THE DESIGNER OR SUPPLIER)

An essential part of these considerations will be the dimensions. The overall length, height and width of the mobile supporting structure must take into account any obstructions that may limit these. Equally the internal dimensions of the mobile supporting structure, i.e. span and effective length, must take into account the size and nature of the load as well as the requirements for lifting and placement of the load.
