12.4.7 Bracing Options

To obtain longitudinal stability and rigidity one of the following bracing options is used:

  1. Internal bracing.

  2. External bracing.

  3. Box bracing.

  4. Rigid or splice bracing.

Although any of the above options may be applied to any design of supporting structure, due to the function of self-erecting mobile supporting structures, these are usually boxed braced. The light duty, lower capacity ‘A’ frame and goalpost mobile supporting structures designs are usually rigid or splice braced.
