27.2 SCOPE

This section of the code relates to four different types of vacuum lifter as follows:

  1. Self-priming

  2. Non-self-priming (Mechanically pumped)

  3. Non-self-priming (Venturi)

  4. Non-self-priming (Turbine)

It does not cover hand held vacuum devices such as those commonly used by glaziers to handle sheets of glass. These are not items of lifting equipment.

Because of the specialized nature of vacuum lifting applications, the advice given in this section of the code should be regarded as general advice which should be augmented by the specialist advice provided by the supplier of the vacuum lifter.
