2.1 FOREWORD

Electric bridge and gantry cranes are used to lift and move loads within the area covered by the crane. Some cranes may require manual effort to lift, lower, or move the load. However, in most cases, some or all of the crane’s movements are powered electrically. This section of the code applies to electric bridge and gantry cranes.

Due to the wide variety of electric bridge and gantry cranes available, the advice provided in this section is general. For specific details about a particular crane, consult the supplier and refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
