7.A1.3 PRINCIPLES FOR THE SELECTION OF SUSPENDED WINCHES

The selection principles will be much the same as for conventional winches except:

  1. The length of the suspension tube(s) must be considered to cope with varying suspension heights.

  2. The top suspension fitting must be considered. Hooks are suitable for attachment to a range of suspension points, including trolleys, and are ideal for temporary applications or those calling for the winch to be moved from one location to another. Shackle suspension is ideal for permanent installations.
