22.8.1 Marking

22.8.1.1 Type (1)

In addition to the information required by the applicable legislation and standard manufactured to the following information should be permanently and legibly marked on a suitable part of the plate clamp:

  1. Range of SWL in straight pull and, where applicable, also at an angle to the side plate of the clamp, specifying the angle.

  2. Identification mark. (If the manufacturer has not provided a unique serial number then it is the responsibility of the user to add the identification mark to identify the equipment with the inspection and examination reports)

  3. Range of plate thickness permitted.

  4. Business name and address of the manufacturer

  5. Weight of the unloaded attachment, when it exceeds 5% of the WLL of the equipment or 50kg, whichever is the less

  6. Permissible gripping range.

  7. Year of manufacture

22.8.1.2 Type (2) - Permanently attached to sling

In addition to the information required by the applicable legislation and standard manufactured to following information should be permanently and legibly marked on the head fitting of the sling or a tag attached to the head fitting:

  1. SWL as an assembly.

  2. Identification mark. (If the manufacturer has not provided a unique serial number then it is the responsibility of the user to add the identification mark to identify the equipment with the inspection and examination reports).

  3. Range of plate thickness permitted.

  4. Business name and address of the manufacturer

  5. Weight of the unloaded attachment, when it exceeds 5% of the WLL of the equipment or 50kg, whichever is the less

  6. Permissible gripping range, where applicable

  7. Year of manufacture

22.8.1.3 Type (2) - Loose clamps

In addition to the information required by the legislation or standard to which the equipment was made, the following information should be permanently and legibly marked on a suitable part of each clamp:

  1. SWL per pair.

  2. Identification mark; preferably as a pair. (If the manufacturer has not provided a unique serial number then it is the responsibility of the user to add the identification mark to identify the equipment with the inspection and examination reports).

  3. Range of plate thickness permitted.

  4. Angle of use and method of reeving i.e. two leg or endless loop.

  5. Business name and address of the manufacturer

  6. Weight of the unloaded attachment, when it exceeds 5% of the WLL of the equipment or 50kg, whichever is the less

  7. Year of manufacture
